How Checkers works,
in short.
- Step 01
Men step forward, one dark square.
You play the warm pieces at the bottom and move first. A man moves one square diagonally forward — toward the far side — onto an empty dark square. Pieces only ever sit on the dark squares.
- Step 02
Jump to capture — and you must.
To capture, jump straight over a touching enemy piece to the empty square just beyond it; the jumped piece is removed. Tap your piece, then tap a dotted landing square. Captures are required: whenever a jump exists, only jumps are allowed, and a multi-jump keeps going while another jump is there.
- Step 03
Crown a king, then win.
A man that reaches the far row is crowned a king and can move and jump in any diagonal direction, forward or back. Leave the computer with no legal move and you win.
