Releases
5.1.0
A page for every kind of game
Highlights
- New pages for each kind of game: word games, logic puzzles, arcade games, board and card games, spatial puzzles and memory games, each with a short guide to what's inside
- The category names in the footer and on the games list now open those pages
- Every game shows where it sits, like Home / Games / Logic puzzles / Sudoku, so you can jump to more of the same kind in one tap
- About, Contact, Privacy, Request a game and the changelog show the same trail back home
Fixes
- Empty ad spaces no longer leave a blank box above the game; on phones the game now starts at the top of the screen
- Closing the end-of-game box by accident no longer loses a top-10 score: a reminder pops up with a Submit button, and the game's scoreboard keeps a "your last run" row until you send it or skip it
- Games based on a well-known puzzle now say in their questions section how they compare with it: what's the same, and what's different
5.0.0
Thirty-two games get a new look
Highlights
- Brick Breaker plays on a dusk court with glowing bricks, flying shards, and new steel bricks that take two hits
- Paddle Ball moves to a night table-tennis table with lit paddles, a rally counter and a flash for every point
- Reversi discs turn over in a ripple on a wood-and-felt board, and Gomoku and Checkers get real wooden boards too
- Hex shows each side's edges as coloured bands and threads the winning chain when someone connects
- Ultimate Tic-Tac-Toe is drawn in pen on graph paper, with a highlighter over the boards you can play
- Calcudoku gives every cage its own colour and turns a cage's target green once it adds up
- Sudoku tints alternate boxes, and Kakuro lights up the runs and sums for the cell you pick
- Queen Zones and Star Battle draw heavy walls between regions, with gold crowns and stars
- Untangle rings every crossing, Letter Square draws each word as its own thread, and Theme Words threads found words through their letters
- Chimp Test cards flip face down, Recall glows like a panel of lamps, and Number Memory uses a split-flap board
- Mini Crossword looks like newsprint, Word Groups uses raised word cards, Sun and Moon has illustrated suns and moons, and Word Hive is a honeycomb
- Marble Shooter rolls its chain along a groove carved into a sandstone court, and aa shows the next pins waiting to fire
- Four in a Row has a blue frame with glossy red and yellow chips that drop in behind it, and a strike through the winning four
- Solitaire, FreeCell and Spider Solitaire sit on green felt with new cards: serif corners, framed court cards and lattice backs
- Color Sequence is an electronic console whose pads glow when they light
- Dots and Boxes is drawn in pen on graph paper, with claimed boxes hatched in your colour
- Nonograms has clearer clues that fade once a line is done, plus a crosshair for the row and column you're on
- Bubble Shooter has glossy bubbles, an aqua playfield and a cannon, and pops throw droplets
- New landing thumbnails for many games, so the listing matches what you'll play
- Games are now titled with the site's own names, and new About and Contact pages explain who runs 404 skill
Fixes
- Number Memory's countdown bar now shows how long you have left
- Paddle Ball pauses when you switch tabs, and the computer's paddle no longer trembles
- Marble Shooter and Paddle Ball stop redrawing when nothing is moving, which saves battery
- Sky Jumper's cracked platforms bounce you once before they fall
- Sling Monkey no longer plays sound effects
- The side ad now only appears on wide screens, well clear of the game board
- The Word Groups how-to-play example now uses groups that make sense
- Card suits no longer turn into emoji on iPhones and iPads
- Four in a Row's end screen names the chips red and yellow, matching the rules

- Pipes shows water flowing from the pump to the houses, with Undo, Hint and arrow keys
