How Nurikabe works,
in short.
- Step 01
Numbers count island cells.
Each numbered cell sits inside a white island whose size is exactly the number, the clue cell included. Islands grow horizontally and vertically — never diagonally.
- Step 02
Tap a cell to cycle Empty → Wall → Dot.
Tap an empty cell to shade it as wall (black). Tap again to drop a dot — your personal marker for a cell you have decided is island, not wall. Right-click cycles the same way. Every non-island cell must be wall, and all the black cells must join into one connected region with no 2×2 square that is entirely wall.
- Step 03
Islands stay apart.
Different islands may not touch side-to-side. The puzzle is solved when every island matches its clue, no two islands share an edge, and the walls form one connected sea.
